ST8 of Balance · The Mind-Body Studio

Mat Pilates
in Dehradun.

Deep core, better posture and control you can feel — low impact, and still genuinely hard.

01 · What it does

Core, postureand control.

Mat Pilates is precision work. No jumping, no load on the joints, and no hiding — the whole thing is about finding the muscles most training never reaches, and then learning to hold them while everything else moves.

02 · Your first class

Your firstclass.

Small group, mats and props provided, and a coach who will spend the first session working out what your body is currently doing rather than what the exercise is supposed to look like. Expect to move slowly, to be corrected often, and to be surprised by how hard a small movement can be when it is done properly. Soreness in places you did not know you had is normal for the first fortnight.

Wear fitted clothing — your coach needs to see your spine and hips move, which is impossible under a loose t-shirt. Classes are practised barefoot or in grip socks. If you are post-natal, post-surgery or working around a diagnosed back issue, bring your medical clearance and tell your coach on day one; the plan is built around it, not despite it.

03 · At ST8

Pilates, theST8 way.

Pilates lives in our Mind-Body studio as ST8 of Balance, sharing a dedicated floor with Yoga (ST8 of Calm) and Aerial Yoga (ST8 of Grace). It runs in small group classes because the corrections are individual — a room of thirty cannot be taught this way, so we do not try.

It is structured like every other discipline here: fixed batch, named coach, and a progress check-in every two months recorded on the ST8 app. Many members hold Pilates alongside Yoga, or alongside a movement membership, using it as the thing that keeps the rest of their training available to them.

04 · Memberships

Simple pricing.

Mat Pilates is its own plan — ST8 of Balance, ₹2,500/month for three sessions a week, or ₹3,000/month for five. GST included, no admission or registration fee. Your first class is free.

Beforeyou begin.

It is one of the most common reasons people start. The work strengthens the deep core and the glute and hip stabilisers that take load off the lower back. If a doctor or physiotherapist has told you to strengthen your core, this is the class they mean. Bring any clearance or restrictions to your first session.

No. Classes are beginner friendly throughout and the work is scaled to what you can control today, not what you can force. Precision matters far more than effort here — that is the whole discipline.

Reformer uses a spring-loaded machine; mat work uses your bodyweight, the floor and small props. Mat is where the method started and where the control is built. ST8 runs mat classes.

Often yes, and it is a controlled way back in — with medical clearance first. Tell your coach what you are working around before your first class so the session is built for it from the start.

Pilates is core, spinal articulation and control under load; Yoga is breath, range and stillness. They complement each other and many members hold both. If your back or neck complains after a working day, start here.
